Division Overview
The CBS Sports Social Media team creates and distributes all content posted from CBS Sports Digital's social media channels. In a sports media landscape that's cluttered with noise, we take pride in building creative concepts that cut through with our audience and represent the values of our brands.
CBS Sports is seeking a candidate to help lead its coverage on Twitter! The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of the sports landscape including, but not limited to, the NFL, NCAA, NBA and MLB. Further, they will understand best practices of Twitter, as demonstrated by their portfolio of work. They must understand the most effective strategies on Twitter and be equipped to create content (i.e. videos, graphics, photoshops, memes) that best play to the audience.
The candidate will work in partnership with the production, editorial, and product teams at CBS Sports to run these accounts. They must have the demonstrated ability to identify trending stories, format them for Twitter, and use them to engage our audiences.

Role Details

The duties of CBS Sports’ Social Media Manager will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Help continuing to develop and establish the voice and strategy for CBS Sports (along with various sub-brand accounts)

  • Significantly grow audience and engagement

  • Identify trending stories and convert them into tweets to drive engagement

  • Come up with original creative concepts in reaction to ongoing social conversation across the sports landscape

  • Build photoshops, memes, and simple social video from scratch when needed

  • Work with editorial team to convert cbssports.com articles into Twitter content

  • Track and provide regular performance updates on applicable CBS Sports accounts

  • Participate in interdepartmental brainstorms, offering feedback from a social perspective

What you bring to the team:

  • 3-5 years of social media experience and/or experience in a digital newsroom or production setting

  • Degree in journalism, communications, or a related field

  • Track record of significant audience and engagement growth on Social Media

  • Ability to multitask and perform at the highest levels under stress and tight deadlines

  • Teammate mentality, ability to work with a diverse group of people

  • Deep familiarity with social media audiences, standard methodologies and analytics

  • Base knowledge/grasp of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop/Premiere)

  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays

  • Strong writing ability and an understanding of English grammar
